What you need to know
Choose from 10 specific symptoms instead of trying every workaround at once. 3 were addressed in official hotfix notes, while 4 are player-reported problems that may not affect every setup. Update first, remove third-party mods, then follow the steps for the problem you can actually see.
RECHECKED OCT 8, 2026 A fixed issue can still return as a regression, so record your platform and build if the same problem comes back.

Clean bar is full but the scene does not end
- Try first
- Put away the tool and read the active request; washing may be complete while another interaction is waiting.
- If it persists
- Inspect the far side, tail and neck edges, then follow the wash-progress decision path.
- Build scope
- Reported across launch builds; not reproduced here as a universal bug.
- Fixed when
- A new dialogue, item request or dismissal objective replaces the wash state.
- Old advice
- Do not restart only because the bar looks full; later requests can wait outside the cleaning loop.
- Evidence
- Community report
Small dirt or ink mark is hard to see
- Try first
- Change camera angle and inspect the tail, behind the neck, limbs and body edges.
- If it persists
- Do not treat every dark marking as dirt; confirm that the progress indicator responds.
- Build scope
- Player-observed cleaning behavior; exact missed locations vary by visit.
- Fixed when
- The indicator moves when the correct surface is cleaned or rinsed.
- Old advice
- Tail and neck are inspection prompts, not guaranteed hidden spots in every scene.
- Evidence
- Community report
Kobold cannot move or interact
- Try first
- Pause and use Unstick Kobold, which was added in the September 2026 hotfix.
- If it persists
- If the same steps reproduce the lock after updating, record the scene, character and platform.
- Build scope
- Use on the Kobold Hotfix or newer; earlier builds lack the recovery action.
- Fixed when
- Movement and the active interaction return without discarding the run.
- Old advice
- Do not use Unstick as a general wash-progress button or during credits.

Turning locks while using sponge or hand
- Try first
- Update the game before trying an older workaround.
- If it persists
- Remove mods and reproduce in the base game if it still occurs.
- Build scope
- Listed as fixed in the September 2026 Kobold Hotfix.
- Fixed when
- Camera turning remains available while using the sponge or hand.
- Old advice
- Pre-hotfix input workarounds should not be the first step on a current build.
- Evidence
- Official
Credits screen lock after using Unstick
- Try first
- Avoid recovery controls during credits and allow the sequence to finish normally.
- If it persists
- If Continue repeatedly returns to credits, preserve the slot and begin another run in a separate slot.
- Build scope
- Player report; no official universal fix was found in the checked patch notes.
- Fixed when
- Credits finish normally and the completed slot remains intact.
- Old advice
- Do not treat Continue as a scene gallery or use recovery controls to skip credits.
- Evidence
- Community report
First boot appears frozen or very slow
- Try first
- Allow shader preloading time to finish before terminating the process.
- If it persists
- Verify the installation and test without mods if the menu never appears.
- Build scope
- Shader preloading was added by the September 2026 hotfix.
- Fixed when
- The title screen appears after preparation and later launches complete normally.
- Old advice
- Force-closing during first-boot preparation can make a normal delay look like a repeatable crash.
- Evidence
- Official
Native Linux graphics issue on Nvidia
- Try first
- Install the September 2026 hotfix or newer.
- If it persists
- Check current drivers and test the unmodified game before reporting a regression.
- Build scope
- Listed as fixed for the native Linux build in the Kobold Hotfix.
- Fixed when
- The unmodified native build renders correctly on the affected Nvidia setup.
- Old advice
- A post-hotfix failure should be reported as a possible regression with driver and build details.
- Evidence
- Official
Steam Deck touch input causes spinning
- Try first
- Update to the hotfix or newer build.
- If it persists
- Use the current controller layout and verify no old input mod is active.
- Build scope
- Listed as fixed before the Steam Deck Verified announcement.
- Fixed when
- Touch input no longer sends the camera into continuous rotation.
- Old advice
- Old controller-layout workarounds are not the first choice on a current verified build.
- Evidence
- Official
Buttons and pointer do not line up after resolution changes
- Try first
- Restart after changing resolution and test a standard 16:9 mode.
- If it persists
- Record display resolution, window mode and scaling if the offset returns.
- Build scope
- Player report; not listed as fixed in the official notes checked here.
- Fixed when
- The visible pointer and clickable button area line up after restart or mode change.
- Old advice
- Do not assume every ultrawide setup has the same offset; record resolution and scaling.
- Evidence
- Community report
Localization mod does not load
- Try first
- Confirm that you installed a release asset rather than GitHub's source-code archive.
- If it persists
- Check ModFramework/BepInEx logs and the author's current compatibility notes.
- Build scope
- Guide checked against Localization and ModFramework v1.6.0.
- Fixed when
- Options → Mods lists the project and the selected language appears in Language (Mod).
- Old advice
- Old instructions that assume the framework remains bundled inside the localization ZIP are outdated.
- Evidence
- Community guide
Record a useful bug report
- Write down the storefront, operating system and game build.
- Name the character and scene or objective.
- List the exact steps immediately before the problem.
- Say whether Unstick, a restart or changing resolution altered it.
- Remove mods and try once in the base game.
- Separate “happened once” from a repeatable result.
Why old fixes can be misleading
The September 2026 hotfix addressed several softlocks, input-turning problems, a native Linux Nvidia issue, Steam Deck touch spinning and rare already-clean arrivals. A report written before that patch can still describe a real historical bug without being a current workaround.
Use the update timeline to see which guide or issue a patch changes.
Safe troubleshooting boundaries
- Do not disable security software to run an unsigned community installer.
- Do not replace save files from an unknown download.
- Do not report a modded-game failure as a base-game bug until reproduced without mods.
- Preserve a completed slot before testing an unverified credits workaround.
